Fan-Led Campaign Sees ‘Eagles Of Death Metal’ Cover Hurtle Up UK Chart

Eagles Of Death Metal’s suitably-titled cover of Duran Duran’s Save A Prayer is punching up to the #1 spot on the U.K charts, thanks to a grassroots Facebook campaign.

The group claim the push is an act of solidarity with the band, following the terrorist attack on their show at Paris’ Bataclan Theatre, which left 87 dead, including EODM merch manager Nick Alexander (the total death toll stands at 129).
Nearly 15K fans have pledged their support for Eagles Of Death Metal For No.1, and the track is currently sitting pretty in 44th place after climbing 52 spots overnight. There are still three days remaining before the track’s final tally is recorded, so it’s looking like the tune could be in with a shot.
Duran Duran’s frontman Simon Le Bon threw his glittery support behind the campaign too, pledging he’d make sure the royalties raised are put to good use.

FWIW, the bluesy, moustachioed ‘Eagles’ slide into the nu-wavey track pretty handily, but you can get your ears around an earlier performance with DD themselves below:
