A report from the Mirror is claiming that Sir Elton John is about to announce a permanent retirement from touring after nearly 50 years of tinkling the ivories around the world.
The report, which does not cite any sources, is about to make the announcement “imminently“, due to health concerns.
The BBC is reporting that it is expected that he will shortly make the announcement that he is doing his final world tour, although they said that John’s management would not confirm the report before the announcement.
John had to cancel 9 shows last year after running afoul of a “potentially deadly” bacterial infection in South America, which saw him spend two nights in intensive care.
The 70-year-old did his first ever tour in 1970.
