After pulling together a first-round lineup including some solid acts from the hip-hop/rap/trap side of things, DRIP World festival has elbowed in with a belter of a second announcement, including Migos and your favourite lonely mate, Akon.

With an initial lineup that featured the likes of French Montana, Lil’ Xan, Lil’ Skies, and Comethazine, DRIP World now welcomes Migos, Akon, Lil Baby, Rich The Kid, DJ K-Time and local legend Jai Waetford to the fold.
Considering Migos had to bail out of their appearance at Field Day at the start of this year – and hell we really wanted to see Offset alongside Cardi B – it’s good to know that the trio is taking the time and effort to return to us.
It’s been a minute since the stylish and deeply handsome trio from Georgia visited Aus (their first and last tour was back in 2017) so get extremely ready to get down to ‘Bad And Boujee‘ when they hit the festival over August and September.
Joining them is the OG lonely sadboy, Akon, who I don’t even think I’ve heard from since about 2009 when he did ‘Smack That‘ with Eminem. Turns out he’s just been a big champion for the last five years, founding Akon Lighting Africa – an initiative helping to get electricity to impoverished African communities through solar power. You go, Akon. Well done buddy.
Undoubtedly, Akon will light up the DRIP World festival (God, that was a terrible segue) with a set full of classic RnB bangers.
The festival kicks off in Sydney at Parramatta Park on August 31, before heading to Brisbane Showgrounds on Sept 1, Melb’s Flemington Racecourse on Sept 7, and rounding out at Perth’s Gloucester Park on September 8.
Tickets for DRIP World go on sale from 6pm AEST on Wednesday July 24 (RIGHT NOW) and you can suss out all your options over on the festival’s website. There are some cheaper ticket options for folks under 18.
