Drake was recently listed by Forbes as the fourth highest-earning entertainer in the world for 2017, bringing in a wild $118 million through album sales, streaming revenue, and live gigs over the last twelve months. We wonder if Forbes asked him about the royalties he’s still collecting for his role on Degrassi: The Next Generation, ’cause old mate has just stunted on us all with a fat cheque.
BEHOLD:
EIGHT DOLLARS AND TWENTY FIVE CENTS, BAYBEY.
And that’s presumably in Canadian dollars, bringing the value of that cheque up to eight dollars and twenty six cents’ worth of Australian tender.
While it’s pretty obvious the bloke is just fucking around with this one, the fact he published at all is proof he’s legitimately balling out of control: imagine receiving a royalty cheque from your teenage talent agency, and waiting three-and-a-half months to open it. Dude is getting paid, regardless.
Some other subtle clues point to the post’s provenance. Look close and you’ll see tiny lil’ hairs covering the cheque. We imagine Drake opened it, went “oh shit!”, rubbed his close-shaved head in disbelief, and then muttered “this would make a great Instagram post” to nobody in particular.
We sincerely hope he enjoys the sensible Subway lunch he can buy with this veritable bounty.
