CALL DAD: Daryl Braithwaite’s Being Inducted Into The ARIA Hall Of Fame

Everybody immediately hijack your office/school/uni sound system. Do whatever you have to do – some light hacking, some SONOS syncing, stealing some guys boombox… whatever it takes, you need to now play ‘The Horses’ on loop for the next 5 hours.

Yep, your Dad’s hero, Daryl Braithwaite, is finally – FUCKING FINALLY – being inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame this year.

Honestly, how has this not happened already. ‘The Horses’ is basically Australia’s alternative ‘Waltzing Matilda’ (NOT alternative national anthem. I’m personally giving that honour to Yothu Yindi‘s ‘Treaty’) and has been sung by every drunk Aussie at a pub at least once in the past year, if not multiple times.

Not to mention Daz has won an ARIA, released nine solo albums over 45 bloody years, and before that fronted 80’s dream group Sherbet. Dude has some CREDENTIALS.

Even though you associate Daz most with ‘The Horses’, did you know he’s got at LEAST two other absolute bangers, which I distinctly remember my parents singing along to at any/all BBQ’s in the 90’s after their standard 10 wines? Cop this audio gold:

What about ‘One Summer’? This is ICONIC SHIT, guys.

Jams all ’round. I’ll have you know I’ve adhered to my own call to action and have this blasting through the PED.TV office right now.

Congrats, Daz. We’re proud of ya.
