Don’t look back in anger. In the Britpop equivalent of Jay-Z inviting Nas to perform “Dead Presidents II”, Damon Albarn has publicly squashed the non-lethal Britpop beef which sold crate-loads of NME magazines in the mid nineties, inviting primary antagonist/instigator Noel Gallagher onstage to perform a live rendition of the Best Blur Track Ever™, “Tender”.
The historic performance took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday night and was part of a teenage cancer benefit curated by an older and wiser Gallagher.
Gallagher who famously wished that Albarn would “get AIDS and die”, now appears on good terms with his onetime Britpop nemesis, exchanging post-song fist bumps and back slaps in a telltale sign that hell has frozen over.
