Daft Punk Make Surprise Cameo At Phoenix Show

Once upon a time encores were spontaneous; bands only brought them out after a particularly epic performance in front of a particularly enthusiastic and deserving crowd. Now the encore is pre-built into the set list which bums me out a bit because it feels a bit like a shopworn chore you need to complete in order to hear your very favourite song. It feels like prostituting your applause. Rarely are encores so super mindblowingly epic because you already know it’s coming and what to expect. Then an hour ago I received a text message reading: DAFT PUNK just got on stage with Phoenix at Madison Square Garden.

Pretty soon news of the French bro out soon went viral.

Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo walk onstage to “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” mixed into “1901”.

Good encore.
