Cut Copy, Tame Impala Among 2010’s Most Blogged Artists

Hype Machine have unveiled their Music Blog Zeitgeist, an “ annual roundup of the 50 most-discussed artists, albums and songs of 2010“. Like the 2010 ARIA Charts this is a useful and purely quantitative approach to ranking music with top artists compiled by tabulating the total number of songs from each artist (posted by blogs on The Hype Machine only) and top songs calculated by perusing more than 950 blogger Top 10 lists.

Hype Machine also commissioned 50 visual artists to illustrate images for each of the top 50 acts and they just might be our favourite part of the whole thing. Really, they’re fantastic. Elsewhere the top tens pan out much as you’d expect with Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs named most blogged album of 2010 and Brooklyn noisesmiths Yeasayer named 2010’s most blogged artist. Actually, that one’s kind of surprising. The only Aussies to crack the list were Cut Copy who were the 48th most blogged artist of 2010 despite not releasing an album and Tame Impala, the 33rd most blogged artist of 2010 and creators of the 36th most blogged album, Innerspeaker. Check out the top tens below and view the full list here.
