FUCK YEAH: Tame Impala Just Won The Hottest 100 Of The Decade

hottest 100 of the decade

Triple J’s highly-anticipated Hottest 200 of the decade has finally wrapped up and we can confirm that The Less I Know The Better by Tame Impala is officially the hottest song of the decade, as voted by punters.

Out of the top 100 songs, a whopping 49 came from Australian artists, which is a huge win for our local music scene.  9 songs in the decade countdown didn’t even make it into their annual hot 100’s, which is a truly impressive result.

The countdown saw a whopping 1,869,659 votes, with 79% of voters under the age of 30. We’ve also seen a huge female turnout with 51.2% of voters identifying as female, with 49.6% from the boys and 1.9% of votes coming from non-binary, unspecified or other genders.

Honestly, the decade’s top three songs Do I Wanna Know?, Somebody That I Used To Know and The Less I Know The Better say it all when it comes to the 10 years of music we’ve had. It was an absolutely spectacular decade for both local and international artists.

It was a close call for the top spot, with Foster The People, Angus and Julia Stone, Flume and Gang of Youths all placing in the top 10 but not quite taking out the prize.

Here’s to another great decade in music.
