New York dance-punk/experimental-rock trio Liars have a history of creating very unsettling music – reverberating wheezing drones combined with primal punk riffs that make for a frightening but often beautiful ride. Those two elements – the frightening and the beautiful – are explored equally in “Scissor” the new single off their soon-to-be-released album Sisterworld, as well as in the accompanying video which has just been released.
Did you ever read Life Of Pi by Yann Martel? Basically it’s a super intense study of isolation and paranoia involving a boy stranded on a lifeboat with a talking Bengal tiger. It’s creepy and unsettling and strange and disconcerting and surreal.
