Byron Bay Woolies Puts DJ In Car Park To Kick Off Splendour, Doubles Sales

The Splendour In The Grass veterans among you will already know this to be true, as it’s been a fixture for four years now.

But for freshers heading to Byron Bay for the very first time, you might have encountered a little bit of extra party in a traditionally non-party space when making supply runs.
The Byron Bay Woolworths, fully aware of the roaring trade it does on the Thursday preceding the Splendour long weekend, ensures the arriving hoards are in the right frame of mind for the ridiculously massive weekend ahead by hiring a DJ to drop some fully siq tunes for two glorious hours.
We’re not even joking, hey.
Here he is stationed in the supermarket car park:
We spoke to the store manager of the Byron Woolies, Luke Peters, who said:
There is always a great atmosphere around town during the Splendour festival. Woolworths takes part in these celebrations with a resident DJ which visitors, our customers and our staff love.
The Fresh Tunes Food People also revealed that the stunt helped to double its sales for a typical Thursday.
We can only hope the DJ in question – pictured above in a “damn it, that’s actually pretty mad lookingRed Bull-branded Jeep – went on theme and dropped tunes from vaguely-supermarket related named acts like Peking Duk, The Smiths (chips), First Aid Kit, Dune Rats(ak), Cream, or the trimmings for an Allday breakfast.
If you were there, let us know.
