Contrary to the teachings espoused in Professor R Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix)” the pre-party can be just as fun as the show, the after party or the hotel lobby. We learnt as much back in 2009 when The Silent Alarms – Bloc Party slamming out their breakthrough debut album under a pseudonym for a few hundred super fans at a pub as a precursor to their headlining Splendour In The Grass slot – made everyone who chose to forgo the gig immediately regret their decision.
This year, organisers will again kick off early with the announcement of an official 2014 pre-event to be held at The Northern, Byron Bay, headlined by Interpol, Future Islands and Buraka Som Sistema. Other performers include DMA’s, Tkay Maidza and DJ sets from Art Vs. Science and Fishing.
