Following the second lineup announcement via triple j this morning, the major international additions to the 2012 Big Day Out bill are: sweary Brit-rock legend Noel Gallagher, socially-conscious Brooklyn rappers Das Racist, and dub-rock phenomenon Nero. They’ve been tacked on to the Kanye/Soundgarden-fronted first list of acts alongside a bunch of local festival favourites like Art Vs Science, Kimbra and Blue Juice.
That’s the good news.
The bad news is that Big Day Out organisers also announced a few changes that are being made to the Perth and Adelaide legs of the tour. For both cities, one of the two main stages are being canned, meaning some of the acts are being dropped from the bill – including one of the major headliners Kanye West.
In both Perth and Adelaide Kanye West, Hilltop Hoods and Mariachi El Bronx will no longer be performing.
Big Day Out are giving the inevitably disgruntled ticket holders the option of a full refund, exchange a Perth or Adelaide ticket for an east coast Big Day Out show or a credit voucher to use on merchandise.
