Bassist Kim Deal Tries To Leave The Pixies, Fails To Leave The Pixies

In a statement posted on their Facebook page, stage-five clingers The Pixies announced that bass player, songwriter and vocalist Kim Deal has tried to quit the group, which first disbanded twenty years ago before reforming, to no avail. Despite her intentions, Deal will always be considered a member of the defunct 80s alt-rock group whether she likes it or not; there’s little she can do about it, sorry, no deal, et cetera.

“We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies,” the band’s singer-guitarist Black Francis, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago said in a joint status update — :'( feeling sad.

“We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best.”

Not sure how this will play out in that Kickstarter coffee table book detailing the band’s dormant years, which you can read more about here if you want to.
Last week it was Kim and Joey’s birthday.
This week, nothing.
