Barnesy, The Jezabels & More To Speak At Keep Sydney Open Rally On Sunday

The organisers behind Keep Sydney Open are working overtime to, um, keep Sydney open, as the inner city’s live music scene continues to fight for its survival in the face of the government’s strict lockout laws.
Keep Sydney Open is holding its next rally tomorrow, Sunday October 9, commencing at Belmore Park at 12pm, and this morning, they announced a formidable lineup of speakers, headed up by the one and only Jimmy Barnes
Barnesy, who got his start playing at live venues in Sydney, recorded a video message in support of the group, urging the government to rethink its position on nightlife and lockouts. You can watch it below:

Barnes is set to speak at tomorrow’s event, alongside the likes of The Jezabels singer Hayley Mary, hip hop artist Urthboy, Sydney city councillor Jess Scully, and Keep Sydney Open organised Tyson Koh.
Said Koh of the event:

“We’re excited to bring this line up together and to unite such diverse genres of music, and eras in Sydney’s cultural history, and we’re proud to bring this to Sydney’s streets for everybody to enjoy on Sunday. It has never been clearer that the lockouts are the wrong answer to the question of how to create a safe, fun and vibrant city. Keep Sydney Open will march in the streets to call on the state government to let Sydney have the same, world class late-night culture we all know this city is capable of having.”
