Abbie Cornish’s Rapper Alter Ego MC Dusk Joins Twitter, Debut Album Due in 2013

It upsets me greatly that when I tell people exceptionally talented Australian actress Abbie Cornish moonlights as a bad-ass MC called MC Dusk they look at me like this:
It happens more often than you’d think, so it’s for this reason that I would like to present to you the following PSA: Abbie Cornish, film industry power player of Bright Star, Candy and Somersault fame (to mention but a few), is in the process of recording her debut album as alter-ego MC Dusk. Last night, Dusk joined Twitter under the moniker @MC_Dusk, and her first tweet was the delightfully cliched ‘Check check one two.’
Here’s a clip of MC Dusk in action, featuring some ‘mad props’ from the comments section, including the excellent “fuck abbie cornish is fierce as fuq.” I have to agree – this is no 30 Seconds to Joe Calderone vanity project. Although that whole Joe Calderone thing was pretty great.

According to Dusk One Production’s Facebook page, the first track from Cornish’s debut album is being composed and produced by Nathan Lanier, the man responsible for the score from Halo 4. Her first studio album is also slated to feature contributions from Hilltop Hoods, Illy, Trials from The Funkoars and Jane Tyrrell. It’s due sometime in 2013, somewhere in between Cornish’s filming commitments on the RoboCop remake, in which she stars alongside Joel Kinnaman and Samuel L. Jackson. Watch this space.
