Not too long ago I was raping the LCD Soundsystem back catalogue and came across a disco tinged mix allegedly produced for Nike (what the hell?) which truth be told, was pretty damn good. The 45 minute continuous track was composed as gym/running music for health conscious hipsters to sweat it out to (I wonder if James Murphy ever gets on the treadmill?) I found it equally as apt for luscious cleaning music on a Sunday afternoon.
Now it’s A-Trak aka Dave One’s Brother aka World DMC Champ aka Kanye’s Tour DJ aka Kid Sister’s boyfriend to produce a mix for Nike’s Original Run series. A-Trak spoke of the mix in a press release “I wanted this record to showcase my current style, but I also didn’t want to stray from hip-hop completely…That’s why you find guest rap verses, plenty of chopped and screwed vocals, and a hefty dose of drum breaks that are surely more block party than Ibiza.”
