5SOS Top US Charts In Best Ever Debut For An Aussie Band

Filthy Aussie punk rock act 5 Seconds Of Summer have achieved what conservative censors withheld from The Sex Pistols in 1977: a number one chart debut for their first record.
More than 253,000 copies of the Western Sydney lads’ self-titled album were sold in the first week, making it the best ever US chart debut from an Australian act. It hit #1 on the Billboard 200 and has also topped charts in Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Spain and Norway. They’ve also conquered the charts at home, hitting #1 on the ARIA charts in July.

5 Seconds Of Summer have been touring the US in support of the record and last week played NBC’s Today show in New York, with more than 15,000 fans lining the streets in hopes of seeing the band.
