How Kylie Jenner Helped These 20-Something Gold Coast Dudes Make $40M

Don’t act like you haven’t spent hours idly fantasising about being a seriously cashed-up bazillionaire. It’s a dream we can all relate to – and one that actually has a way bigger range of options in terms of making it a reality these days. No more do we have to rely on winning Lotto to start work on that dream house with the trampoline room; in the year of our lord 2017, you can spruik your way to the millionaire lifestyle with… teeth whitening products?

Yep, believe it. For Gold Coast blokes Nik Mirkovic and Alex Tomic – who are only 22 and 24 – a wicked combination of cosmetic dental products, a gap in the market and some extremely savvy Instagram use was their ticket to the big bucks.

That, and a little someone called Kylie Jenner.

All those #ad posts you see Insta-famous people like Jenner make on the ‘Gram? Turns out, they’re super, super worth it.

Mirkovic and Tomic run a company called HiSmile, which they founded in 2014. You might have heard of it, if you’re one of the literal millions of people who like Kylie Jenner’s Instagram posts.

Each of Kylie’s paid posts – all five of them – generated massive sales boosts. In fact, after forking out up to half of their revenue on paid product placements with celebs including Jenner, Big Brother contestant Aisha Jade and Conor fucking McGregor, the two lads are now on their way to earning $40 million annually.

That’s a lot of tooth-whitening kits.

At the moment HiSmile sells their LED whitening kits for $79.95, and subscriptions for between $19.95 and $29.95 – but they’re looking to expand their Insta-famous empire. Tomic told the Australia Financial Review:

We want to create a brand that is bigger than just teeth whitening. We want something that has products across the whole bathroom. We eventually want to get our sales to $1 billion and be one of the top 5 consumer brands globally.

Can celebrity Instagram endorsements cop you $1 billion in annual sales? Mate, it’s almost 2018. Anything’s possible.
