FYI, You’ve Been Throwing Out The Most Nutritious Part Of Your Avo

You think you know avocados? Think again, pal.
~ SPOILER ~

Most of us have actually been chucking out the healthiest part of this blessed fruit: the seed.
Which is pretty sad to learn, especially when you think about how damn much you pay for a gorge, ripe avo these days.
According to One Green Planet, 70% of the avocado’s antioxidants can be found in its rock hard kernel, including polyphenols, which help in preventing degenerative diseases, like cardiovascular disease and multiple types of cancer. The seed even has more soluble fibre than a bowl of oats.
How does one harness these magical, mystical health powers? Cut the seed into quarters (be super dooper careful, and try not to snap your favourite knife), and grind it up with a rather powerful food processor to create a powder. Drying the seed under the sun prior to grinding will extend the life of your powder, too.
You should also know that avocado seed powder tastes bitter AF, so do not take it by the spoonful unless your tastebuds have been burned off in some kind of freak accident. Serving suggestion: mix half of one seed up, and pop it in your green smoothie, juice or honey.
But hey, now there’s even more avo for you to love-o.
