This time, you’ll play as Hornet, the protector of Hallownest, who you’ll probably remember from the previous game. While the project started off as a DLC expansion for the original Hollow Knight, the end result turned out big enough to warrant a standalone sequel featuring a “whole new kingdom haunted by silk and song”.

The adventure will introduce you to a whopping 150 new enemy types and a bunch of new environments such as “coral forests, mossy grottos, gilded cities and misted moors”.

“Almost from the very start, Hornet’s adventure was intended to take place in a new land, but as we dove in, it quickly became too large and too unique to stay a DLC, as initially planned,” the team wrote in a blog post. “We do know that makes the wait a little longer, but we think the final, fresh world you’ll get to explore is worth it.”

There’s no release date for Silksong just yet, but you can check out the reveal trailer below.

Looking slick, no? Team Cherry also released a longer developer diary video packed with more info if you’re keen to know more. You can suss that one out below.

When Sliksong does eventually drop, you’ll be able to play it on Windows PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch.
