The Trailer For Netflix’s ‘The Dark Crystal’ Series Is Both Weird & Gorgeous

When Netflix spilled details of its new prequel series to Frank Oz and Jim Henson‘s landmark film The Dark Crystal, this is what PEDESTRIAN.TV‘s own Ben McLeay had to say:

Even now, I’m still obsessed with that movie. It is dark, weird, abstract, gorgeous, beautifully scored, and, most importantly, incredible dope. It introduces a rich and utterly bizarre world with little to no exposition, allowing everything to speak for itself…

Do I want more from that world? You bet your ass.

The first trailer The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance has now materialised. Unfortunately for McLeay, and for you, he is not currently on deck. Instead, I have taken the onus of reporting on the clip. I’ve also never seen the original film.

Bear with me.

The clip is indeed richly visualised, bearing all of the trademark puppeteering that generations of fans have come to expect from the late Henson’s company. It showcases battles, magic, magical battles, some very powerful plant-life, and what I must assume is the Dark Crystal in question.

It also features input from a selection of the series’ absolutely stacked voice case, which is honestly too expansive to list here in full.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance premieres on the streaming service on August 30, which might be enough time for me to make amends to my dear colleague.
