The First Reviews Of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Are In & Folks: It Looks Fucken Great

It’s no secret that we were always pretty jazzed at the idea of a superhero movie directed by Kiwi wonder Taika Waititi, the genius behind Boy, What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

love u, Taika

Of course, it’s also no secret that even the best fuck it up sometimes, so who could blame us for approaching the upcoming release of Thor: Ragnarok with a little trepidation?

But, praise Odin, if the first reviews coming out of preview screenings are anything to go by, Waititi’s colourful, Sunday morning cartoon-inspired romp is a really fucking good time.

Critics are already praising the vivid colour choices, the soundtrack, and the fact that the whole thing is hilarious – a pleasant change from some of the more action-y/angst-y superhero films of the last few years (also there is a character called Beerbot 5000???)

Not that this one doesn’t have action – as you can see from the trailer, it’s got action out the CGI wazoo.

The plot appears to centre on Thor (Chris Hemsworth) getting stranded on a planet overseen by a neon eyeliner-wearing Jeff Goldblum, while Cate Blanchett in full goth mode is attempting to bring about the end of the world as we know it. Also the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) is there.

And people are goin’ bananas for it.

There you have it: Chris Hemsworth is an ace comedic actor, everyone’s in love with Tessa Thompson, and audiences love it when you make ’em laugh. We’re stoked for it to hit cinemas. See you on November 3.

Also, Cate? We see you, and we love you, and please never change.
