Donald Glover Is Rumoured To Be In Talks To Play Willy Wonka

You gotta take this one with a grain of salt but we figured the prospect was exciting enough that it’s worth mentioning that it’s even possible: Donald Glover is reportedly in talks for the lead in an upcoming Willy Wonka film.

This is according to Collider, who are saying they “hear” that the frontrunners for the lead are currently Glover, Ryan Gosling, and Ezra Miller.

Paddington director Paul King has already been secured for the project, which is based on a screenplay by Simon Rich (creator of the TV show Man Seeking Woman). Unlike the existing two movies, this one won’t cover the ground of the first Roald Dahl novel, but will instead be a prequel focusing on Wonka’s origin story.

It’s a bit harder to picture Gosling or Miller summoning up the manic energy of the character than it is picturing Glover doing it, but, ultimately, they are all very, very handsome, and I would not complain about any of them getting the role.
