The First ‘Dirty John’ Trailer Is Here & Holy Hell Eric Bana Is Terrifying

The true crime podcast that consumed most of us last year is inching ever closer to being on tv, as the new trailer for Bravo‘s adaption of Dirty John is here, giving a gripping visual to the story of Debra Newell‘s intense relationship with the too-good-to-be-true John Meehan.

FINALLY the wait is over to see Eric Bana step into the chilling shoes of John, where he sheds his Aussie accent for a pretty passable American one and takes up the mantle of Dirty John very, very well. Connie Britton plays Debra fantastically, and her daughters are played by Julia Garner (OzarkWacoManiac) and Juno Temple.

The whole series – if you’ve been living in a cave for the last year or whatever – is a REAL STORY about Debra meeting a man through online dating who seems way too perfect, like almost suspiciously perfect. He’s handsome and charming, and wins her over. Debra’s children are dubious about the new man in her life and it’s not until the rose-tinted glasses come off that Debra begins to realise the ugly truth about her new partner.

We’ve already met Bana as John Meehan in that creepy as hell teaser, which ends with a kicker of a tagline, “he could happen to you“. Honestly I have this deep sense of unease and holy hell I just want to watch this immediately, thanks.

The limited series starts on Bravo on November 25, and will be coming to us through Netflix. Check out the trailer below and tell me you don’t get a deep-seeded feeling of terror, knowing exactly how this is going to play out.
