Danny McBride Is The Son Of Crocodile Dundee In This Surprise New Trailer

CRIKEY. When we woke up this morning, we had no idea that there was going to be another sequel to the classic Aussie Crocodile Dundeebut here we are. Not only is there a new film coming your way, there’s also a teaser trailer that arrived this morning, and you can go ahead watch right now.

At first we thought this had to be a goof, like some kind of Tropic Thunderstyle movie-within-a-movie type of thing, but we did a bit of digging around, and it appears that the film, entitled Dundee: The Son Of A Legend Returns Home (an intentionally bad joke, we assume?), might be legit.

Danny McBride of Eastbound And Down and Pineapple Express stars as the son of the legendary Mick Dundee, parroting at least one of his famous lines in the above teaser. There’s an official site, which includes production stills and the following synopsis:

“Crocodile Dundee is back. Well, actually, he’s missing in the Outback. And the only person who might be able to find him is the loudmouthed American son no one knew he had.”

Original Crocodile Dundee star Paul Hogan is returning, and in an exclusive interview with People, he said:

“Crocodile Dundee is a film that has stood the test of time. It was a defining moment in my life and one of my proudest accomplishments. Throughout the past few years, I’ve been thinking about how to bring Dundee to a new generation. I’m excited to introduce the new Crocodile Dundee to the world and look forward to sharing more news about those involved very soon.”

McBride told the publication:

“I’m not going to lie to you, to be a real Crocodile Dundee, I think 95% of it is the vest and then 5% is just being able to not fall down and stay on your feet.”

Paul Hogan became an international star after the first film introduced the world to his rough-hewn Aussie ways in 1986 – a sequel followed in 1988, and a third movie, Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles, in 2001.

Though basically no information is available besides the People article and the film’s official website, Dundee is apparently due out midyear. Now if you’ll pardon the obligatory Simpsons reference:
