Netflix’s Delightfully Dark Series ‘Castlevania’ Announces A Third Season

Castlevania

The almighty gods at Netflix have greenlit Castlevania season three – the cruelly short, gloriously salty, misfit-vampire-hunter animated series based on the vintage video game of the same name.

Per Deadline, the streaming giant has ordered a 10-episode third season – two (2!!!) whole episodes more than season two and six episodes more than the painfully short 4 eps of season one.

Love you, Vlad.

Written by the living legend that is Warren Ellis, Castlevania begins with the miserable, salty as hell, given-up-on-the-world former vampire hunter Trevor Belmont, who comes from a long line of impressive vampire hunters. Trevor’s story begins just as the Dracula unleashes an army of undead on the world, hellbent on destroying human kind… not that you can blame him.

Trevor, despite being reluctant, sets out to save the world alongside Seeker Sypha and Dracula’s charming son, Alucard – your misfits.

In season two, which just hit Netflix, the misfits cop it big time as they take on Dracula’s war council headed by two humans named Hector and Isaac – humans who hate their own kind so much they’ve sided with bloody Dracula.

The incredible series has the voice talents of Richard Armitage (The Hobbit, North and SouthGraham McTavish (Outlander, The Hobbit, RamboAlejandra Reynoso (Winx Club !!!), and James Callis (Bridget Jones’s Diary, Battlestar Galactica).

In season two, Theo James (Divergent, the guy that dies during sex in like episode one of Downton Abbey) is the voice of tortured human soul HectorAdetokumboh M’Cormack (Battle Los Angeles, Beyond the Mask) voices Isaac.

Jaime Murray (Dexter, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena) is the scheming Carmilla.

It’s still early days but I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say season three will hit Netflix next year, same time – Halloween 2019. Plenty of time to binge and rebinge the series.

Season one and season two of Castelvania are available for your viewing pleasure on Netflix now.
