Microsoft’s ‘Netflix For Games’ Now Includes New Release Xbox Exclusives

Launched in June last year, the Xbox Game Pass is, essentially, a Netflix-like subscription that grants you all-you-can-play access to a huge library of games. Today, Microsoft announced that new Xbox exclusives will be added to that library on their respective launch days.

That means games like Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and Crackdown 3 will all be available on the service the moment they come out for purchase via other platforms. Shit yeah.

If you’re not familiar with Game Pass, it works just like Netflix – you pay a monthly fee of $10.95 and you can play any of the 100+ games they have on offer as much as you bloody like. It’s a pretty damn good deal, particularly when an entire year’s subscription clocks in at $131.40 – the cost of roughly 2 games.

The library also includes backwards compatible games from the Xbox 360‘s collection, and if you do wanna purchase something you really dig, doing it through the platform will score you a 20 per cent discount on the price.

The move to add huge new games to the collection is something Xbox head, Phil Spencer, says is important to the company.

“We know our fans value having a variety of games to play at a low monthly price,” he wrote in a blog post. “We’ve also heard from fans that the ability to play new blockbuster games in Xbox Game Pass is important. So we’ve continued to explore new ideas to make this possible.”

“Moving forward, we plan to release all new Xbox One exclusive games from Microsoft Studios into Xbox Game Pass on the same date as their global release.”

In other words, expect to see heaps more huge games make the list in the future. If you’re keen to get involved, you can get all the details on the Game Pass website.
