Would You Go On ‘The Amazing Race’?

Great news you guys! Just because Big Brother got cancelled doesn’t mean your dreams of becoming a reality tv star have to be pushed aside forever. Channel 7 has confirmed that an Australian version of The Amazing Race is definitely going to happen and applications are now open for potential contestants. Despite the promise of a “massive cash prize” for the winner I would never enter because it looks so stressful that I can barely cope watching the show – let alone doing the actual pyramid climbing and wild buffalo chasing and elephant turd eating and whatever else the contestants get coerced into doing by their partners. Then they get given an awful nickname like ‘the Suzinator’, become known as a generic grouping like “the fat redneck co-workers” or “the gay cowboy twins”, and get yelled at by their only ally when accidentally reading a map upside down. No thanks, pal!

But if I was actually good at physical activities, not afraid of confrontation and unable to navigate my way out of a wet paper bag I might give it a crack, because besides the chance of making mad cash you get to travel around the world with one of your favourite people and possibly end up with a sweet gig commentating on ‘Wipeout’ or turn your audition tape into an internet meme depending on how much the public love you.

Applications are now open here for teams of two, aged 18 or over. Entries close September 6th. Based on the footage I’ve seen it seems that being a damn fool is a quality deemed favourable by the show’s producers.
