If anyone understands / respects / appreciates the power of a well-crafted pun, it’s us. We recognise the power of their subtlety, and we enjoy savouring the more delicate combinations of wit and cheek.
On the other end of the spectrum: Fart puns. Christ almighty, there are fart puns – and then there’s this one.
We could try to justify it, try to find some kind of logical rationale behind why this one is so perfect. We could ignore it, and pretend we are above having an ill-gotten laugh at the expense of Australia’s newest sweetheart. Still, we’ve learnt that if you love something, sometimes you need to let it go.
Much like fans believe Bindi Irwin did, when this happened on Dancing With The Stars:
“If a mic could actually pick that kind of thing up, that’s an extraordinary mic… But nope, not me,” she said.
Yes, yes it was, it is, and it will be. We understand that there is no reason to drag this on any longer than necessary, especially as Irwin is a fully-fledged human being with more interesting aspects than ~ maybe ~ once farting on TV, and it looks like she’s going to do some pretty alright things with her life. Show’s over, everyone go home.
