This ‘Which Character’ Personality Test Is Going Viral On Twitter So Prepare To Feel Seen

Personality Test

Today in Viral, a “Which Character” personality test is doing the rounds on Twitter because we’re in isolation and have nothing else to do and because it is ridiculously detailed.

This is not your average BuzzFeed character quiz on Facebook, limited to one or two TV series or films from a franchise. No, this personality quiz – an “open-source psychometrics projects” will attempt to find a character as similar to you as possible  from a library of 400 fictional characters, ranked in order of most similar to least.

“This test was created by getting volunteers to rate the perceived personality of a variety of fictional characters (currently 400),” the website reads. “A user’s self ratings are compared against these profiles and the closest match is found.” Explaining this further, the brains behind the test said one volunteer rates 30 characters on one single trait each, randomly drawn from a bank of 30 traits. “With enough data, all the individual surveys can be combined into a comprehensive database of assumed personality.”

It’s like first year psych all over again. So naturally, I did the test – twice. It consisted of 28 questions and a further few that are optional. I did the optional questions both times and some kind of threw me, so I’m going to assume that’s why the results were a bit different. The test didn’t take very long, maybe five or so minutes. The first time I did it I got Jake Sisko from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine first, which I’m not mad about. And the second time I did it I got Jake second and Donna Moss from The West Wing first. I do not know who that is. But in conclusion, I suppose I really am most like Jake Sisko.

Anyway, to Twitter!

Please spare a thought for this lass who got RITA SKEETER from Harry Potter second.

I’m taking this entire experience as a sign to rewatch Deep Space Nine.

As an aside, my colleague Louie did the test and got Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop. He is unfamiliar with the adored series, so I simply linked him to a personality description on Cowboy Bebop Wiki. He’s not talking to me now.

Per the Wiki page:

“Spike is a slothful, nonchalant, indifferent, and lazy character. He passes the vast majority of his time on the Bebop lounging, watching TV, or sleeping.”

You can take the test for yourselves right here.
