In a frivolous new segment producers hope you won’t notice was lifted straight from the playbook of late night troll Jimmy Kimmel, Sunrise co-hosts Sam Armytage and David Koch, your favourite new sassy, sarcastic best friend newsreader Nat Barr and sports correspondent Mark Beretta suffer through the #nofilter slings and arrows of social media abuse and read mean tweets about themselves for a new segment called Social Meania.
This is how the Russian judge scored them: zero points for originality, minus twenty points for whoever came up with “Social Meania”, and ten trillion points for Nat Barr’s flawlessly executed eye rolls (can we please watch The Bachelor with you, Nat?).
From Sam’s hair (“Your fringe hides your face, bimbo.”), Nat’s delivery (“If you don’t want to read the news without sounding pissed off, then don’t.”), Mark’s likeability (“When that idiot Beretta comes on I always mute the TV.”) and Kochie’s everything (“what a dick”, “wanker”, “bald headed freak”), no one is left unscathed, or ignorant of how punchable/grotesque their face is.
