WATCH: The Lonely Island & Fallon Set Sail For 2009 With ‘I’m On A Boat’

THINK, PEOPLE: Do you remember a time before Andy Samberg donned a tux, climbed aboard a luxury yacht, and sung those immortal words while performing the whitest rap hands in history: “I’m on a boat”?

No. You probably don’t. That’s because The Lonely Island‘s ‘I’m On A Boat‘ was seared so absolutely into the collective consciousness of the internet, the ‘before’ was absorbed into the ‘after’ and therefore ceased to exist.

You were on a boat. You have always been on a boat. You may or may not have fucked a mermaid, and we simply cannot know these things. (Anyway, it was circa 2009, which is a bloody long time ago considering the most recent Instagram with the hashtag #imonaboat was 14 minutes ago.)

And today, The Lonely Island AGAIN reminded us that it’s still a bloody good track by performing it on Jimmy Fallon, with the help of Jimmy, The Roots, and our insatiable appetite for nostalgia.

It’s just what this bangermeme (noun – a catchy song with a high BPM that we’ll never STFU about) deserves.
