The first trailer for the Spike TV / Network Entertainment documentary I Am Heath Ledger has dropped, and – predictably – it’s a sad one. The doco is built around a number of home movies Ledger filmed both before and during his meteoric rise to fame, with friends and family saying that he always had a camera with him.
“He wanted fame, and then when he got it, he didn’t want it,” friend and filmmaker Matt Amato says in the trailer. Pretty wild to think that Heath died nearly nine years ago. Check it out.
The doco airs on Spike TV in the United States on May 17, after premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. Hopefully we’ll get a release in Heath’s homeland soon after.
