At this point, journalists should really be aware that the question “do you want to interview Russell Brand?” means “do you want there to be a viral video of Russell Brand utterly tearing you a new arsehole?”
Nonetheless, Channel 4 reporter Paraic O’Brian gamely tried to take the comedian on, ambushing him with a question about his own property interests during a recent protest about London housing.
It did not go very well:
Per The Guardian, Brand later described himself as a “volatile person.”
“I shouldn’t be allowed on television. I’m so easily wound up,” he said. “What does it matter to me, what have I got to lose, just from this one bloke?”
“When you talk to a journalist I sort of think it’s a combination of boring and really annoying,” he said, “and my personality type is not well suited to that kind of environment.”
And that’s why you don’t bait Russell Brand.
