Watch James Franco On General Hospital

James Franco operates on a hectic schedule. First there’s being a Hollywood actor (Planet Of The Apes remake in the works), then there’s his extensive lineup of extracurricular activities which currently include: higher education (Columbia University’s Writing Program); fine art (opened first solo exhibition at New York’s Clocktower Gallery on June 23); published author (he regularly contributes to Interview and Esquire, and his first book Palo Alto: Stories is due out in October); and modeling (he’s the face of Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme).

No one really knows what his much publicised stint on U.S. soap General Hospital is all about. It has something to do with a complicated performance art project that he’s doing in collaboration with the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) that is “elaborate and complex in its layers of fantasy and reality”. Whatever. Let’s just watch James act creepy as the character he plays: an artists / sociopath named Franco.

Franco explains this weird art project as“an attempt to both blur and define the lines between different disciplines, between life and art, between art and popular culture, and between representations of the self as both performative character and as non-performative self.”

Is he becoming a wanker?
