American animation studio Laika Entertainment, who brought us ParaNorman and Coraline, has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming film, The Boxtrolls.
It’s a first for a children’s animated film to be so openly progressive about same sex parents, as it calmly and logically explains parent combos—other than your traditional M+D—in a way that makes perfect, utter sense.
The trailer begins, “Sometimes, there’s a mother. Sometimes there’s a father. Sometimes, there’s a father and a father. Sometimes both fathers are mothers.”
It’s just so simple, you guys.
Laika follows in their own gay-friendly footsteps, after their stereotype destroying character Mitch, in Paranorman, who defied dumb jock conventions by also being gay:
The Boxtrolls, based on Alan Snow‘s story, Here Be Monsters!, will star Elle Fanning, Simon Pegg and Toni Collette as voice actors. Watch the teaser trailer below:
