Watch A Fairly Boring Trailer For “Sydney Unplugged”

Things are moving rapidly for the Sydney omnibus project helmed by Tropfest’s founder John Polson. Yesterday, Polson announced the film’s official title, Sydney Unplugged, as well as a contributors list which put American Liev Schreiber alongside some of Australia’s most famous famous people: Alex Proyas, David Michod (interview here), Ivan Sen, John Curran, Kieran Darcy-Smith (interview here), Rachel Ward, Ray Lawrence, Russell Crowe, Anthony LaPaglia and Toni Collette.

And still we’re going. The first official trailer landed online overnight and though it gives us zero indication of what the shorts will look like or if they’ll differ in tone from their fawning global counterparts, it lovingly adheres to the title tropes perfected in the trailers for New York, I Love You and Paris, je t’aime. One city. Millions of stories. X amount of filmmakers. Things get “Australian” when the words “Celebrate Sydney with the filmmakers who fucking love the place” appear and The Coathanger is besieged by fireworks and little Instagram photos of meaningful Sydney moments which all seem related to the beach, street art or the colour blue. Looks promising you guys.
