Uber Offering Travel Via Optimus Prime

In the most inspired use of a film’s marketing budget since Sony tricked cafe patrons into believing in telekinetic devil children to promote the Carrie remake, luxe people transportation service Uber has joined forces with Paramount Pictures and Western Star Trucks to promote the global release of Transformers: Age Of Extinction by giving its U.S. users the chance to ride with righteous Autobots leader, Optimus Prime.

According to Uber’s blog, “The Autobots are on the move and this is your chance to roll with a robot in disguise.  In three US cities, use the Uber app to request a pick up from Optimus Prime!”
Optimus – in this case a customised Western Star 5700 truck with cool red flames painted on it that will refuse to interact with you, bitch about Megatron, transform into its humanoid form or explain why there’s a human driving it – will be doing laps around Dallas, Los Angeles and Phoenix.

Autobots, roll out.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction is directed by Michael Bay from a script by Ehren Kruger and stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, Titus Welliver and T. J. Miller.  It opens in theatres in June.
