TV Series About Australian Gym Culture In The Works

Hey bro, do you even lift the lid on the blatant wankerism of Australian gym culture?

Actors, collaborators and recent Tropfest finalists Aaron Glenane and Adam Dunn will do just that after more than doubling the $4000 target originally set on crowdfunding platform Pozible for the purposes of injecting hot PEDs – Production Enhancing Dosh – directly into the buttocks of their hard bodied comedy series idea, Clean & Jerk

The show, in early development stages, follows heartbroken pipsqueak Colin Ainsworth (Glenane) who after getting dumped by his high school sweetheart and only girlfriend ever gets a gym membership to lose himself to shred, sculpt his physique and reenter the dating scene. To whip him into shape he enlists the help of a slightly delusional, arrogant and flabby personal trainer named Warren who could use a personal trainer himself. Hilarity and biting commentary on the vanity of Australian gym culture ensues.

The project was made pozible by rewarding different tiers of backers with everything from cameo
appearances, Executive Producer credits and naming rights. According to Inside Film, the pilot for the first season of the series which is yet to be picked up by anyone “was launched last night at an event in Redfern, with members of the press, ABC and SBS in attendance.”

Strong concept.
