WATCH: Tom Hiddleston Teases The Fandom By Getting Real Sad In A Tunnel

Tom Hiddleston has tickled fans and puzzled basically everyone else by posting a beguiling clip on social media, days after it was revealed he will be reprising the role of Loki for a new standalone show based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Taking to Twitter for only his second post of 2018 – the first of which was a simple note, referring to the upcoming Disney+ show – the British actor showcased his range by donning a suit, gazing down a tunnel, and letting a single tear fall down his cheek.

The word “Betrayal” appears at the bottom of the frame. The clip also features the most sumptuously-lit bins this side of Detective Pikachu, but that’s not the point.

Speculation has mounted among some elements of the Hiddleston fandom that this may be the first teaser for a new adaptation of the lauded Harold Pinter play Betrayal.

That is currently unconfirmed, but Hiddleston did appear at a London gala honouring Pinter just last month.

Speaking of the playwright, Hiddleston said “Pinter’s writing really stood out as something else, something different, something lean and spare, and with a very distinctive voice that kept drawing me back.”

Notably, Hiddleston appears to be wearing the exact same outfit in both the new clip, and the October interview. Interesting times in Hiddleville, for sure.
