Tom Cruise Alter-Ego Inspires New Ben Stiller Film

Can a fat suit, heavy use of the f word, and grotesque dance moves be what Tom Cruise needs to reclaim his acting cred and public adoration?

Yes.

Tom’s turn as fat, foul-mouthed megalomaniac movie producer, Les Grossman, in the Ben Stiller flick Tropic Thunder actually – and kind of ironically – returned him to his fan’s good favour, after his couch jumping, over sharing, too-polished Scientology weirdness had made him into one of Hollywood’s most hated people. People like fat, foul-mouthed megalomaniacs more than they do Tom Cruise. Such was the charm of the Grossman character that he recently re-appeared in a series of ads promoting this week’s MTV Movie Awards.

Fans loved it, 756,867 people watched it on youtube, Ben Stiller saw dollar signs and now, less than a week later: the Les Grossman movie has been confirmed. They’ve already snapped up the screenwriter of the super exciting Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World , Michael Bacall, and Ben Stiller and Tom Cruise are producing. Stiller released the following statement regarding the “character”:

“Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to, quote, ‘F*cking kill the sh*t out of this movie and make “Citizen f*cking Kane” look like a piece-of-crap home movie by the time we are done. I am honored to be working with him.”

Um. I’m actually pretty f*ucking excited about it.
