Tom Ballard is Getting his Own Show, Where He’ll Make Fun of Reality TV

Comedian and former triple j breakfast host Tom Ballard has scored his first major television job, hosting an upcoming ABC show called Reality Check. The show, which is set to air later this year, promises to “take a blowtorch to the belly” of reality television.

While little more has been said at this stage, the Daily Telegraph report that Ballard will be joined by three “industry experts” each week, running the gamut from ex-reality TV contestants to judges.

The panelists will “share their war stories”, and will also “reveal what happens behind the camera” on popular series. The idea actually seems like it could be a lot of fun, and also pretty illuminating.

For instance, if Ballard could convince erstwhile “voice of a generation” Karise Eden to come and speak about how it all went wrong after the first season of The Voice, that would be some super entertaining television.
Likewise, Poh could come along and dish on how the clearly inferior Julie was allowed to steal her thunder on Masterchef, and Hotdogs could come and bask in his viral fame following Big Brother
Okay, fine, that’s enough spitballing, we’ll leave the guests up to Ballard.
Meanwhile, Tom’s ex Josh Thomas isn’t doing too badly either. His comedy series Please Like Me has just been picked up for a third season in the U.S., even though the second one is not yet in the can. ‘Straya!
