Emma Thompson hosted the Mother’s Day edition of Saturday Night Live this weekend, and legendary cast members Tina Fey and Amy Poehler stopped by to crash her monologue and say a few words about what mothers want.
The trio translated various common phrases that mothers day – for instance, when your mother says that you look “tired”, she means you look bad, and when she says she loves you and your siblings all equally, she’s probably trying not to hurt your feelings.
The pair also got the chance to bust out some of their familiar Boston and Philly accents for the monologue, the relevant part of which you can watch below:

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were not just there for shits and giggles – the pair are currently promoting their Netflix movie Wine Country, which is Poehler’s directorial debut. Currently streaming, the film tells the story of a group of friends celebrating a 50th birthday in California’s wine country.
The film stars Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, Jason Schwartzman and Tina Fey, along with Poehler herself.
