Comedian Tiffany Haddish has revealed some of the sneaky tricks she uses to gage how Hollywood decision-makers feel about her and the results weren’t pretty.

The Girls Trip star made the revelation when she sat for a Hollywood Reporter round table with fellow actresses Jane Fonda, Maya Rudolph, Regina Hall, Alex Borstein, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Natasha Lyonne.

Haddish confessed to putting her phone on record, placing it in her bag and leaving it in the room after doing an audition and returning for it later after the casting agents had discussed how they felt about her performance.

“You know what I’d do? I’d put my phone on voice memo and put it in my bag, I’d do the audition, walk out and leave my bag. Then I’d come back and be like, ‘Oh, I forgot my purse,’” she admitted.

After getting into her car and playing back the voice memo, she claims she heard the casting people say things like: “‘She’s not as urban as I thought she’d be’. Or, ‘She is so ghetto, I just can’t.’ ‘Her boobs aren’t big enough.’ ‘I really think we should just go with a white girl’.”

Rudolph responded “Oh, you’re nasty,” and asked “Wait, how many rooms did you leave it in?”

Tiffany revealed it was “a lot,” adding “I’m sneaky!”

Meanwhile, Fonda said she’d rather not hear feedback after the audition.

“I’m the opposite,” she said. “Have you ever gone to your own movie in a theater and then you go to the restroom and people are talking about the movie? Well, I’ve always been so scared of what they’d say. And I want to let them know, ‘I am in here. Don’t say anything bad.’”
