This Tony Abbott/’Darjeeling Limited’ Mashup Is Perfect

Any hats you’re currently wearing can and should be taken off in a show of appreciation toward Huw Parkinson, a valiant wielder of above-average editing suite superimposition skills whose zeitgeist capturing showreel has once again landed in that liminal sweet spot between ‘popular entertainment’ and ‘#auspol’, on the hallowed front page of r/australia and on your highly-discerning radar alike.

Parkinson’s previous efforts have combined watershed moments in recent screen history (True Detective, Arrested Development) with similarly as unforgettable moments of terrifying ineptitude on the part of some of Australia’s most prominent political figures (Joe Hockey’s myopic observation that ‘poor people don’t drive cars‘ and Clive Palmer’s batshit “Chinese mongrels” Q&A rant respectively) to spectacular effect.
Though for its timelines, ambition and an attention to detail to rival noted fan of symmetry Wes Anderson himself, Parkinson’s most recent magnum opus The Darjeeling Abbotted surely takes the [uranium] cake.
Five stars, would watch again.
