The Powerpuff Girls Are Returning In 2016

Good news for those of you who remember remembering things from your halcyon days, Cartoon Network has announced the return of the much beloved perfect little badasses The Powerpuff Girls in 2016. The series is being completely revived, with new episodes to air for the first time since the show wrapped up its original run in 2005.

In a statement announcing the return, Cartoon Network’s chief content officer Rob Sorcher stated, “The original ‘Powerpuff Girls’ was a franchise phenomenon for Cartoon Network, paving the way for a new generation of innovative storytellers and enthusiastic fans worldwide. We are calling these girls back into action based upon an overwhelming demand for sugar, spice and Chemical X.

The original series premiered in 1998 and ran for 7 years, producing 78 full episodes and a feature film entitled “The Powerpuff Girls Movie.” During the course of its original run, the show nabbed two Primetime Emmy awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.
The show will be returning to Townsville with all the original characters, and with all the original girl power in tow. The Powerpuffs are back, y’all!
