If you’re looking for some new and wholesome Steve x Dustin content from Stranger Things, may I point you to this ad the duo recently did for Coke. Season three of the hit series takes place in the summer of 1985, the same time The Coca-Cola Company made one helluva mistake and launched its New Coke product – a new version of the soft drink that was dropped after just 79 days on the shelves.
The ginormous blunder was all the rage back then so, hand in hand with all the nostalgia Stranger Things naturally brings, it’s time to relive it. The company has actually brought back New Coke for a limited time to celebrate the show’s third season. You can check it out on the US website– yes, it’s only available in the United States of A.
Anywho, Netflix dropped the ad starring the World’s Best Babysitter, Steve (Joe Keery), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) on Twitter and it’s just a tad cute.
“Just a couple thirsty boys having a night out in 1985,” the Stranger Things Twitter captioned the vid.
Coke has already popped up once or twice in the official trailer so expect to see it around in season three.
(Never forget Steve’s “It’s finger lickin’ good” line for KFC back in season one.)
As for some actual Steve x Dustin goodness in season three, Matarazzo told Entertainment Weekly in May that viewers will “definitely see more” of the friendship.
“That’s what I really like about Matt and Ross [Duffer Brothers],” he continued. “They know what fans like and they roll with it.”
Stranger Things 3 will finally hit Netflix, July 4.
