Gaten Matarazzo’s New Netflix Hidden Camera Show Sounds A Bit Yikes

Gaten Matarazzo

Gaten Matarazzo of Stranger Things has signed on to star in and produce a new prank show for Netflix, although the premise of the series is a little bit of an eyebrow-raiser.

Netflix announced the new show, entitled Pranked Encounters, on Friday. It sounds a little like Punk’d, except instead of celebrities, the victims will be regular folks. Per the press material:

“Each episode of this terrifying and hilarious prank show takes two complete strangers who each think they’re starting their first day at a new job. It’s business as usual until their paths collide and these part-time jobs turn into full-time nightmares.”

The eight-episode first season of Pranked Encounters is set to start filming soon, with the 16-year-old Gaten Matarazzo as host.

If there’s anything more upsetting than being out of work in this economy, it has to be getting a new job only to discover that the kid from Stranger Things is messing with you.

It’s unclear if the pranked parties will be getting actual job offers after participating on the show, or whether they’ll be out on their asses.

Either way, welcome to the dystopian hellscape that is late capitalism, folks!
