Good news, Stranger Things fans: we’ve finally got a release date for the show’s third season. In a video dropped at midnight in the time zone that Hawkins would exist in if it was a real place, Netflix announced that the show will be heading to our screens on July 4th, the famous American holiday that celebrates the anniversary of the invention of the gun (or something like that, not sure).

The streaming service made the announcement in the form of a cutesy small-town-style New Year’s broadcast from a fictional Hawkins TV station:

The video is full of brief flashes of sinister looking text that I’m sure right now, a legion of nerds are poring over for every possible clue.
Pictured: Something, probably.
They also released a new poster, which shows Eleven and Will staring in abject terror at something out of frame that is attached to a horrible pair of legs or tentacles or claws or… something, in addition to a disconcerting number of rats.
Starcourt Mall, which features prominently in the video, also featured heavily in an earlier preview:

Netflix Japan got its own version of the video, which shows Mount Fuji getting flipped into the upside down, with an added dash of mindflayer:
1985年より、あけましておめでとうございます🎍
